Well, this week I need to find either a new virtual call center package or begin deploying a new call center for use down in Merida. I need to get our VOIP telephone system prepared to move. I also have to determine what is in the building down there and what type of equipment we'll need once we get there. So far its looking like at least 2 Cisco 2960 24 port switches, a new firewall, assorted cables, one or two new servers and possibly a new UPS. We need to get a copy of our web app running on a server to take down there. Plus determine the best way to ship everything to Merida.
So far so good, I know where the coffee maker is.
After that everything else should be a piece of cake.

I'm sure most people at Telligent have heard the story by now, but I want to put it out here as I'll start documenting my new "adventures".
A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine approached me at church telling me he was moving his company to the Yucatan in Mexico. He then asked if I knew any IT Directors. Well, duh.
I said that is what I do. After that we started talking about it. After much thought and prayer, my wife and I decided this was an opportunity that we couldn't pass up.
I used to work as a dive instructor in the Caribbean and my long time wish has been to get back there and eventually open a dive shop. She has been a dive master for almost as long and we met diving. This is a blessing I couldn't have ever asked for.
I have to pause here to say how much I have loved working at Telligent. Rob, Jason and the whole crew there are absolutey amazing. Not only are they all amazingly talented workers but they are all extremely good people. Fun to work with and fun to hang out with. Thanks so much for the opportunities I've had at Telligent. I'll work to take all I've learned being a Telligenti and take it to all of my future endevours. I wouldn't have left Telligent if this wasn't in the Caribbean and 30 min from the beach.
So, where will I be working and what will I be doing? I am now the IT Director for Anres Corp. and we'll be moving the main office and call center from Plano, TX to Merida, Mexico on the Yucatan peninsula. Anres provides prepaid credit cards for different purposes. More on that as I learn more myself.
Here's a map of where Merida is:

As you can see we'll be about 2 hours from Cancun and 30 min from the beach. We're very excited about this and very nervious all at the same time. I should be starting the process of the move in the next week or two.
Well I guess that about covers it for now. Hold on tight, here we go...
