There is an old joke that goes something like this:
“When I was a young man, I wanted to play the guitar very badly. As an old man, I have succeeded. I can now play the guitar very badly.”
I enjoy playing around on the guitar and trying to learn songs, or at least parts of songs. As you can see in the picture, I’ve got a Fender Stratocaster (Strat), and I do love the way it sounds. If you aren’t familiar with a Strat, some of the artists who have played one are Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Eric Clapton, just to name a few. And as fun as it is to play, sometimes it just doesn’t sound right. It needs a little growl. It needs a little bit of angry in its sound. So, recently I did a thing and bought my first effects pedal.
I chose a Boss SD-1 because it’s an affordable pedal that plenty of musicians have used in the past (and currently). I’m having fun and that is really all that matters.
Make sure you take the time to relax, do something fun, and enjoy a hobby or two. 🙂
